Actors: Gérard Depardieu, Clovis Cornillac, Jacques Gamblin, Marie Bunel, Vahina Giocante

Police Superintendent Paul Bellamy (Gérard Depardieu) is back in Nimes with his wife Françoise (Marie Bunel) to spend the summer in her family home. She dreams of going on a world cruise, but although Paul adores his wife, he loathes travelling.

Two good excuses keep him glued to the spot: the unexpected arrival of his half-brother Jacques (Clovis Cornillac), a small-time adventurer a bit too fond of the bottle, and the appearance on the scene of a desperate man who asks for his protection. Filled with the urge to help them both, if possible by staying exactly where he is, Paul devotes his time and energy to them, while also satisfying his natural investigative instincts.

All too soon, his role of older brother brings him plenty of difficulties.

The long-awaited first collaboration between two giants of French cinema, Chabrol and Depardieu: a winning combination!
